Platform Arts Hub Blayney @ the Railway Station
"Where art meets history"
The original 1877 building on Blayney railway station has been refurbished by Sydney Trains to establish a community creative arts centre. The work is yet another stage in the long history of the station. The buildings have been returned to a 1920's colour scheme, reflecting the heritage of the station, and highlighting its period features.
For many years the station's refreshment room and kitchen were located on the premises. The 19th century stove remains and is a reminder of another era in rail travel. Sydney Trains commissioned a design team to install an interpretation of the station's history which now enables further understanding of the station's past.
The arts hub has operated as primarily a gallery with a history room under the auspices of Blayney Shire Local & Family History Group Inc. Unfortunately, due to a shortage of volunteers, it is in the process of entering a new phase. When planning is finalised this page will be updated.
Visitors to Blayney can view the heritage installations on the Platform and the buildings so important to Blayney's rail history.
